Discover the Benefits of a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

Reduce your taxable income

When you take funds from your IRA, it is counted as taxable income. But if you transfer those funds directly to charity, you reduce your taxable income while satisfying your RMD.

Fulfill your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)

After you turn 73, you are required to annually withdraw funds from your IRA. If you do not withdraw the required minimum, you may be penalized, but a QCD allows a transfer up to $105,000 per individual or $210,000 per couple to satisfy your RMD.

Change the Lives of Older Adults

When you make a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA to Road Scholar, you will help us enrich and enhance the lives of older adults.

“I have been a longtime supporter of Road Scholar and its mission to provide educational travel experiences for older adults. This year, I discovered it would be more tax efficient to make my donation as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from my IRA to Road Scholar and at the same time have it count toward my annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). All I had to do was contact my IRA administrator and arrange for them to make the transfer directly. I received the tax benefit and Road Scholar continues to receive my support!”
